I Get an error that the system clock was set back...  What's wrong?

The System clock was changed to an earlier time.  StayOn Pro detected this and the security system reports it in this error message.

This can be fixed by e-mailing Support@StayOnPro.com and we will send you instructions and a Key Code to fix the problem.  The Key codes are Time sensitive so they'll need to be used right away.

Be sure the date and time is correct. Then Goto Start->Run and Browse for the Stayon Pro.exe file. (it is usually located under C:\program Files\RC's Computer Lab\StayOn Pro Folder) At the end of the run box type a space and "fixclock" (without the quotes).

It should look Like this in the run box:
"C:\Program Files\RC's Computer Lab\StayOn Pro\StayOn Pro.exe" fixclock

You will be asked for a key. (e-mail Support@StayOnPro.com to get a key)

I still get disconnected after just a few minutes after going on line.

There are many reasons for being disconnected including phone lines, the modem, the switching units at the phone company etc.  If you share a line with your voice phone you may be getting incoming calls that are knocking you off line.

1. Be sure to set the Dialing Properties in control panel to disable call waiting. Start->Settings->Control Panel Double click on Modems and click the dialing properties button. You'll find a ck box with disable call waiting and a drop down box to choose the code for your area. In most places it is *70 but you may want to check with the local phone company to be sure.  In AOL or CompuServe just Add a *70 before the number to be dialed.

2. Or it could be your e-mail client hanging up when it is done sending mail.  This is a configuration issue with the e-mail client.

If you are using Outlook express:

Open Outlook express and select Tools from the menu bar.  On the drop down menu select options.  Then click the connection tab.  Take the check mark out of hang up after sending and receiving mail.  This is the reason after checking mail the connection is closing.

If you are using a different e-mail client try and find the option that does this in your e-mail program.

3. Some internet security software will block StayOn Pro from getting out to the internet if set at High security.

4.  If every thing in the settings is fine (above) and you are getting disconnected after only a few minutes it sounds as though it is probably a poor connection.  This can be caused by phone lines or modem--probably the phone line.  We've had a number of client's have problems with phone lines shortly after an electrical storm.  To trouble shoot I'd take the system to a friend's house that isn't having a problem and see if the problem persists.  If there isn't a problem there it is the phone lines. If you experience the same symptoms I'd suspect the Modem.  We know the telephone company isn't much help in trouble shooting connection problems or even computer manufacturers.  Doing this step will defiantly rule out the phone lines if you can connect fine there.  We just had one client go back and forth with the Telco, manufacturer, and us for 3 months.  We recommended this step and the following week the Telco replaced the phone line with no more problems.

I Checked out Update Net0 and now my right click menus flicker.

Right click the StayOn Pro icon in the system tray and select Update Net0.  Enter NULL in the edit box. StayOn Pro 3.22 has the code written in to close the window that needs to be closed.  If you don't enter any thing in you'll get that.  You'll be able to use that feature when Net0 updates again.

This was fixed in version 3.23.  StayOn Pro no longer saves a blank entry.

What is the Ping Tool?

t is a tool to help to diagnose a network problem.  We hope you never need the tool, but it can be used to see if a web site is down or the route to the site is broken.

If you enter a website into the location and press ping it will send a packet to the server.  No let's say you can't reach a website like Microsoft one day.  You put www.microsoft.com into the address and press the ping button.  If it states the host is not reached the path to the server may be the problem.  Pressing Trace will show all the computers on the internet that handle that small information packet to the server in question.

When using the Ping tool I receive an error message Permission Denied

Ping is a different protocol than http or ftp.  Enter the URL in as www.stayonpro.com or ftp.stayonpro.com.  (leave off the http:// or ftp://) You can also ping using the IP address such as 127.0.0.1 (Your system)
